Getting to Vilnius

We're beyond excited to connect with you at the most sales-minded business conference in the Baltics. It's our 2nd edition, and we're happy to have you on board. Getting to and from Vilnius couldn’t be easier. However, arriving in a new city might feel overwhelming, so to lend you a hand, we’ve gathered all the options for getting to Vilnius and navigating the city on-site.

By plane

Currently, more than 15 airlines offer direct flights to more than 40 destinations from Vilnius International Airport. What’s more, flight times are only three hours or less. And the airport is only a 15-minute taxi ride from the center. For more detailed information about the services provided at the airport see www.vno.lt.

Getting to and from the airport is easy

Once you have arrived at the airport, getting to the city center couldn’t be easier. The airport is only a 15-minute ride to the city center by bus or taxi, and by train it’s only 7 minutes to the city’s railway station.

Getting to the city center by bus

There is a direct bus from Vilnius city to the Vilnius Airport. The price of a single ticket is €1, and it can be purchased from the driver. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the city center.

  • No. 3G – Airport–Center–Fabijoniškės
  • No. 1 – Airport– Vikingai St.–Station
  • No. 2 – Airport– Vikingai–Liepkalnio St.–Station
  • No. 88 – Airport–Center–Europa square
  • No. 88N* – Airport–Center–Europa square

*88 bus runs at night from 22:30 to 05:30.

Getting to the city center by train

The special "Vilnius-Airport" train runs regularly from Vilnius railway station to the airport and back. Trains run 16 times per day and the journey takes 7 minutes. A ticket costs €0.70. It can be purchased online, on the train or at the railway station.

Getting to the city center by taxi

The Vilnius Airport approved taxi stand can be found in front of the airport’s arrivals terminal. All taxis accept cash and credit cards. Here are the most popular routes and what they cost:

  • Vilnius Airport–Old Town (Cathedral Square) – approximately €10
  • Vilnius Airport–Konstitucijos avenue – approximately €12
  • Vilnius Airport–Litexpo Exhibition and Congress Centre – approximately €9

Taxis carrying passengers from the Vilnius Airport taxi stand are not allowed* to apply rates that are higher than the following:

  • 1 km daytime trip, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. – €1,01
  • 1 km night-time trip, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. – €1,16
  • 1 km at weekends and on public holidays – €1,16
  • 1 km outside the city – €1,16
  • Initial fare – €1,45
  • 1 min. of downtime while waiting for passengers or time stuck within traffic – €0,29

Getting around in Vilnius

Vilnius is perfectly sized for getting around. Even if you have a house or apartment on the outskirts, the center is only a short 30-minute commute at most. The city also boasts a modern and integrated public transportation infrastructure, and you’ll find that there are trolley buses and buses connecting every corner of the city.

Getting around by bus

One of the first things you need to do when you get to Vilnius is to install the Trafi app on your phone.

Trafi – the main platform for using public transport and more. This all in one app will give you live traffic and public transport updates and info, helping you choose the fastest way to your destination every time. From public transport, car (integrated platforms like “City Bee” and “Spark”) and bike sharing, to taxis, Trafi covers everything, and you can even use it to buy tickets for public transport!

Public transport tickets in Vilnius

There is available E-Ticket (Electronic ticket, “Vilniečio kortelė”). Vilniečio kortelė is credited with an appropriate amount of money and/or the selected public transport tickets. With a valid ticket in the card, properly activated on board of public vehicle, if necessary, it is possible to change the public transport for free and for unlimited number of journeys. New Vilniečio kortelė costs €1,5.

If you came to Vilnius for a short visit, you can buy a one-day or three-day ticket. You can buy and top – up Vilniečio kortelė in all venues marked by sign Vilniečio kortelė.

  • 30 minute ticket - €0,65
  • 60 minute ticket - €0,90
  • 1 day (24 hour) ticket - €5
  • 3 day (72 hour) ticket - €8

There is always an option to buy ticket from the driver of public vehicle for €1.

Getting around by taxi

Taxis and ride sharing services in Vilnius

For those that prefer the convenience of a cab, Vilnius has a lot of dependable and reasonably priced taxi options available. Most popular local providers are Bolt (Download the application from the App Store or Google Play) and E-taxi (Book a taxi online). You’ll find there’s a number of apps available that you can use to hail a cab 24/7.

Springtime is lovely with flowers blooming, but you should also expect some rain. It might get warm (10-15°C) in April, but you can expect a mix of hot temperatures and sun, or rain showers and colder wind. Don’t worry too much; the weather is always perfect to explore Vilnius.
